Missing Trash Icon? Harder to delete objects.

It’s better than nothing, but I have to say the new swipe-up solution is not ideal. Why complicate things when you can just bring it back to its original place as a separate button. And on another note, I just wish the UI stayed the same. New UI is fine but what bothers me is that it’s not clearly defined and intuitive anymore. Like for example in the FX layers, I get that I can toggle the icons under the sliders to switch between types of FX settings but the lack of naming just stagnates my mind. While in the older version, sliders are named and are highly convenient to use. Highlighted in red rectangles to show the difference.

Why complicate things...

My theory is the only conflict that the devs may be trying to avoid is accidental deletion when users try to activate the new overlay button for keyboard shortcuts. Which for new users is entirely understandable.

Moving to a universal trash can on the top context bar would alleviate all issues. It's in a space people expect it to be and won't conflict with any existing functions.

As for the new overlay button for shortcuts,  for advanced users coming over from 1.X, an option to disable and remove the overlay button would be nice. I come from the illustration end of designing in Affinity and extra stuff on my canvas is personally undesirable, I just use multitouch finger modifiers.

The new doohickey is activated by default every time i open a file. It's an extra step to turn it off every time i use it.

Upon further inspection, I found that the trash Icon DOES appear on the top context menu, but only when using the NODE tool.

On an iPad Mini the Trash Icon only appears when  in Landscape orientation; it disappears in Portrait orientation which is how I do almost all my drawing.  I have gone through a lot of drawing programs over the years. This is the first time where the biggest beginner challenge is constantly having to figure out how to Delete something.

In case none have you seen Robert Hansford's take on the trash can this might put a smile on your faces.

I also liked the older appearance and behaviour better.

@TonyO, @transitdiagrams, everyone,
The trash and deselect buttons were re-implemented as they were in V1 (each one with its own button; single tap to deselect and delete).
These changes will be available in the next patch/update. Thanks again for your feedback.

@MEBThank you! The swipe up to delete only made it a little easier, but then you have the issue of accidentally taking a screenshot which I experienced a lot because of the swipe-up delete gesture and the X/deselect button location near the corner of the iPad screen. Glad to hear that. Will the next patch fix the crashing problems?

So, now you folks have your trash button.
Great.

And now, how can I remove it?

As in:
Hey, I have a keyboard attached to my iPad. I really do not need that trash button on screen, especially right there below the deselect button:/

Perhaps a toggle setting like the undo redo?
