Affinity designer crashes when changing the font....

Recommended Posts

Hi,

most times i try change the text font affinity designer just crashes. I use windows and have the latest update installed. The problem hasn't happened before the update.

Sometimes this also happens when i add picture or try to save the data.

I am working on a book and the deadline is in four days.

The same problem occured when designed postcards, so the size of the document can't be the problem.

kind regards, Anna

Hi @Athiana

There are two solution. First, deinstall the latest Net Framework Updates or use my prefered solution:

  • Open the directory in which the Affinity programmes are installed. As a rule, C:\Programme\Affinity\(Desinger ...Photo ...Publisher)
  • Search and open the .exe.config file (for example Designer.exe.config) with a text editor.
  • Search for "<add key="IsVirtualizingStackPanel_45Compatible" value="true"/>"
  • Replace the value true with the value false.
  • Save the file (administrative rights are required to overwrite!)

Your solution helped for affinity designer. I kept the latest version of NET Framework on Windows 10 and just changed <add key="IsVirtualizingStackPanel_45Compatible" value="true"/> to "false" and the font search using the key works fine and the program does not crash. But what did we disable? What does IsVirtualizingStackPanel_45Compatible mean? Thank you

UPDATE for anyone still using V1 Affinity applications -

Versions 1.10.6 of the Affinity suite have been released, which resolve these .NET Windows crashes.

Please see the below link for information on how to download and install these updates:

With the Affinity updates installed, you can now un-hide any previous Windows updates you have paused and install these without concern.
