GarryP
Does this have any particular relevance for the Affinity software? Looks more like ‘click bait’ to me (or whatever the current/correct phrase is). (I haven’t watched the video so maybe I’m wrong.)
Petar Petrenko
Well, all Affinity apps or on iPad too, as you know. So, this is just an info for potential new buyers of iPad M2 to decide whether to buy it or not. GarryP
I just don’t see it as being specifically relevant within the context of these forums is all. However, if the forum moderators are happy with it being here then I will acquiesce. firstdefence
NotMyFault
Apple announced exiting new pencil feature: hover over before touching. This would allow Affinity to add the missing feature of brush preview. I assume this is technically unrelated to M2 cpu, but is only made available by Apple on new iPads, which will use M2. link (sorry, German only) https://www.heise.de/news/iPad-Pro-2022-mit-M2-Chip-und-Pencil-Schwebefunktion-7312397.html Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | Windows 10 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. Doesn't the guy of that video shown above (at around ~6:35) just claimed that this hovering feature is basically something which was/has been already there for a decade and now is just only a software based specific switch/addition? Of course. This has been practice in IT since decades. I think IBM was famous for delivering mainframes fully loaded with RAM and you need only to purchase a key to activate it. I remember a coffee dispenser at Airbus Toulouse factory which had a touch sensor with (unintentional) proximity functionality in 2001. When you hovered by accident 3cm above the “add sugar” button, it fired a full load into the cup. I didn't like sugar. Guest
Today many manufacturers are really embracing this idea, especially when combined with subscriptions. Tesla has been doing it for a while, and BMW has now jumped on board. I'm surprised Apple didn't offer this as a paid upgrade to existing compatible iPad owners.
