TomFulery
Can Affinity Designer flow text around objects? If so, how? Can't find anything about it in the Help Menu or online. Thanks!
A_B_C
Hi Tom, I don’t believe this option is currently supported, but here’s a trick. Suppose you want to create a text frame of the size of the pink rectangle below, and the text should flow around the blue circle. Then do the following: Duplicate the blue circle and rescale it to the size of the green circle (this will define the distance of the text to the blue circle). Subtract the green circle from the pink rectangle. Select the Frame Text Tool and click inside the pink rectangle. Add your text. Voilà. Hope that helps … :) Alex Text.afdesign LilleG, vonBusing and Hokusai
anon1
sadly it does´t work with non destructive compounds yet
jmac
That's a clever work around A_B_C. Thanks for posting.

abra100pro
While it is a bit strange that AD does not do the trick like Publisher (why not - it's there already!) The workarund from @A_B_C is cool. It can even be made non destructive when pressing option (alt) while doing the boolean subtraction. Publisher did not exist 5 years ago when that conversation occurred. Yes, Publisher exists now. But now, the tool to use for complex text work is Publisher, not Designer, as many of the more advanced text options are only available in Publisher. abra100pro
Well, as I wrote my answer, we are at the end of 2021 ;-). I honestly can't understand why AD cannot do things as bulleted/numbered lists proper textwrapping around an object - it is about illustration, no? free transform of objects, including but not only text These are basics for illustration. BTW: Adobe has started advertising exactly things that AD cannot do - such as free text transform - coincidence?

Not as well as Publisher, but basic support is there and has been for a long time. The short, somewhat oversimplified answer is that Serif has decided that if certain functions were available in AD as well as in APub, then a lot of people would not buy APub & they would either have to raise prices or risk not making enough profit to stay in business over the long term.
