finedesign
I have over 20 colors in a palette and need to analyze them. To do so in Illustrator, I would just select each object and view the subtle changes in the color values in the HSL viewer. Unfortunately I am using global colors and want to keep them linked. But it appears impossible to simply select an object and view its values in the colour palette. It only shows the global color name. Yes, I can manually override it, but when I click another object, then go back, it shows the same thing.
Staff Leigh Posted January 13, 2016 Staff Share Posted January 13, 2016 A workaround would be to go to View > Customise Tools... at the bottom change Number of Columns to 2 and click Close. You will now have access to a Colour Chooser icon. If you double click this you will see the colour for any selected objects, including objects with a Global Colour :)
LilleG
If you press and hold Opt/Alt while dragging with either the Paintbrush, the Mixer Brush, or the Color Replacement Brush, a pop-up displays the RGB values. Seems like it would address finedesign's issue if the popup reflected the color mode you were in rather than just RGB. I guess I'm slow but I didn't realize till just now that releasing the mouse while Opt/dragging with one of the brushes would make that your primary color. Much easier than the clunky eyedropper method if you are painting anyway.
