PSD File has error message stating "unknown property"

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to open a file that I worked on in photoshop recently, I just made the switch to affinity photo. There is an error message that shows up saying that there are unknown properties. Is there anyway I can fix this instead having to pay for Photoshop again? I have the .psd file attached so you can open it on your end.

When you press "Okay" and the file opened in Affinity: Do you miss any appearance of a "gradient fill"?

As far I know Affinity doesn't have an Effect (fx) for Gradient Fill – but as Gradient Overlay only, which appears not to be set / used in this file for the two layers which have layer effects activated.

I don't see "GradientFill" in your file, maybe it is set in one of the text layers which have a few settings for the text – but they wouldn't affect the colour of the whole image.

It seems that this colour shift is related to the "Colour Balance 1" layer which appears to affect the two apps differently, though with same setting. Compare below the difference in both applications when this adjustment layer is shown or hidden. (with other layers hidden to narrow down the "culprit").

You can also try out that PSD file behavior with Photopea then.

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2
