shushustorm
Hey everyone! Not sure this has anything to do with my system settings being set to German, but I'd like to be able to type "." within the Transform window to do calculations rather than ",", since I'm used to typing "." for floats all the time. This doesn't seem to be implemented using Designer 1.10.4, which may not be the most current version. I am rarely updating in order to keep workflow stability. I searched for ". ," and didn't find this issue. Best wishes, Shu
Staff Dan C Posted October 7, 2022 Staff Share Posted October 7, 2022 Hi Shu, 14 minutes ago, shushustorm said: Not sure this has anything to do with my system settings being set to German I can confirm the Affinity app automatically detects the system language in use and sets the decimal separator to the region specific separator, in your case the comma. However we may look at adding a Preference setting in the future that allows you to manually define this, regardless of system language - such that you could use the decimal point as required shushustorm

May be something similar on Windows, I don't do Windows. shushustorm 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.2 Affinity Designer 2.3.1 | Affinity Photo 2.3.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.3.1 | Beta versions as they appear. shushustorm
@Dan C @Old Bruce @Pšenda Awesome! Thanks for your replies! I'm on a Mac like Bruce, so I'm going to have a look, seems like those settings may be able to change Affinity's behaviour as well! But, granted, an option within Affinity would be great in order to not require overwriting of system settings.
shushustorm
Just an update on this, since I only was on iOS: This doesn't seem to work. From the system settings, I set the decimal to ".", but Designer still only lets me type "," and completely ignores "." for input. EDIT: It does work when setting the whole system language to "English (UK)". Well, I guess I'll just have to keep typing ",", since changing system language may very well have some negative side effects in some of the software I'm using. Not to mention Apple scripts that I coded in reference to the German UI.
