shushustorm
Hey everyone! It'd be useful if there was an option to move duplicates below the current selection rather than above them. This doesn't seem to be implemented using Designer 1.10.4, which may not be the most current version. I am rarely updating in order to keep workflow stability. I searched for "duplicate below" and didn't find this issue. Best wishes, Shu RedCard
GarryP
You can already move a duplicate below another layer. Do you mean that you would like to have the option for duplicates to be created below the currently-selected layer when you make the duplication? shushustorm
Yes, I want duplicates to automatically be created below the original! For me, in most cases, that would retain the right order, unlike when duplicating above. RedCard
GarryP
Thanks for clarifying. Currently you can use the Insertion Position buttons in the Toolbar and Copy/Paste to do what you want, but I accept that’s one extra button press and keypress. shushustorm
shushustorm
@GarryP Thanks! I see! That does result in exactly what I'm trying to do. However, practically speaking, that's still even more tedious than rearranging the layers, since I always have to press that button each time before pasting. If the setting would stick the way it's selected, that' be great!
GarryP
Having the Insertion Position ‘stick’ is something that has been requested a few times.

Try.... CTRL+V+[ (Don't release the CTRL key after typing V) Which does a paste then a Layer > Arrange > Move Back One command (Above is for Windows, Macs may be different) shushustorm 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. shushustorm
@GarryP I see! Thanks for pointing out!@carl123 Thanks for the info! I see the shortcut within the menues, next to the command "Move Back One", however, it doesn't work. Not sure why. Select -> Select Next and Select -> Select Previous do work and they use the same key, just with an additional alt.
carl123
I just looked up the Affinity Mac shortcuts online... and "paste" is CMD+V "Move back one" is CMD+[ So, if it worked as Windows does, I would expect you to type... CMD+V+[ (Don't release the CMD key after typing V) But not having a Mac I don't know anything about how that CMD key works 46 minutes ago, shushustorm said: next to the command "Move Back One", however, it doesn't work Or are you saying you can't get that shortcut ( CMD+[ ) to do anything on your Mac? shushustorm 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. shushustorm
Yes, it's cmd+V for pasting and cmd+[ for moving the layer. However, the latter just doesn't work. Not sure it's an OS issue or Affinity. I don't require that shortcut in any other software to test that. I guess I'll just remap that function and be done with it! (You can find it in the Layer category in the Shortcuts settings)
