KFam
I exported a work file from Affinity Photo to a PSD format with varying outcomes depending on the image I edited. On most occassions, the rendering of the thumbnail image (if multi-layered) on XNView MP is not possible, and quite understandable. On some occassions, the rendered image has totally different colour saturation, oftenovder-saturated. I checked the PSD in my CS5 Photoshop edit session, and it was indeed over-saturated. Was it a mismatch in the ICC profile ? I tried using several profiles and somehow, it is difficult to match accurately even if a profile is available in PS CSx. What parameters should one look out for in this scenario ?
v_kyr
Related to XNView MP see ... PSD files don't always display in Preview? Color management ... etc. It's not always dealing correct in certain szenarios. Thus color management wise at least embedding the common default color profile sRGB IEC61966-2.1 for images and making sure that XNView MP recognizes it should be essentiell here. - The rest is also dependent on how XNView MP treats (loads/previews ...) PSD files internally, so you have to try out settings and compare results. Dan C
Hi @KFam, In addition to the above, colour mismatching in exported documents can also be explained if you are using a custom ICC profile for your monitor, set through your OS. Can you please open Windows Run (Windows Key + R) then paste the following string and press OK: colorcpl In the window that opens, please select your monitor from the dropdown menu, then attach a screenshot of this dialog to your reply here. Many thanks in advance!
KFam
Thanks everyone, I have used the default sRGB profile before and may need to test the various profiles to see the best fit in Windows. I know it can get tricky and I hope to post my results when I can identify the setting that triggered the dramatic colour mismatch.
Dan C
No problem at all - I'd recommend using the sRGB profile both for your monitor within Windows, and your Affinity document Colour Profile to reduce the chances of colour mismatches. Please do let us know how you get on
