Photo & Publisher crashes immediately

Recommended Posts

Hi - hoping someone can help.

I have Affinity Photo and Publisher. I have installed version 1.10.5 and neither one of the apps will stay open. The splash screen comes up and then immediately closes.

I have tried the 'control' key and selected all resets several times - still nothing.  Windows 11. I don't have any of the programs that seem to be incompatible with Affinity.

Thank you!   Meesha

Have you had the programs running successfully before? If so, what version was working?

Win 10 or Win 11? - See/search the forum posts about ...

  • disabling OpenCL hardware acceleration & GPU drivers
  • Recent Win Updates which cause problems
  • possible .Net runtime problems
  • ... and so on ...

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2

Thank you! Sorry, was still in the middle of a freakish long wedding season!

So I have Windows 11 22H2 version  (however did not work with the last version either)

I don't have any of the known programs with issues

This is a Lenovo 7i 12th gen Iris Arc graphics with 32gb of ram

I also have a Samsung Book 2 360 pro 12th gen with Iris graphics. None of my Affinity programs would open on that either however I was able to hold down the CONTROL key to reset and open the program to turn off hardware acceleration.

The Lenovo allows me to hold down the CONTROL, reset all checkboxes but then still open screen disappears so I can not turn off hardware acceleration.

Help! :(   Thank you!

WOW! I did it!

I tried holding the CONTROL key down before I even opened the program and also clicked on the actual program in search rather than the last used icon and was able to unselect the hardware acceleration! They work!

I'm about to download the new V2 version and hope for the same luck!

Hope this helps anyone else...
