Need further help removing a background

Recommended Posts

I've been through a tutorial showing how to remove a background.

Selection Brush + refine and then add and remove... I got that part. Then I choose refine and choose matte and look at dodgy areas where the selection hasn't quite worked.

I've done a good job. But then I notice a button I was trying to remove the background of int he pic has jagged edges.

Now I'm stuck. I click around and things don't respond.

How do I add to the mask after applying the mask? Do I remove the mask and refine and then add a new mask?

I remove the selection: how do I reapply the selection so I can refine parts that I missed?

Once the selection is removed, I'm now stuck?? I have to redo all that work!

Is there a way I can keep the selection saved within the Affinity file?

See the following 2 images...

This is the original image:

This is my work after a first attempt:

This insides of the buttons look terrible!

EDIT: I've restarted editing the image. When I try to refine the insides of the button, then it makes it worse! It selects and deselects the wrong parts.

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. 🙂

Thanks.

AMAZING. I've tried following your steps.

You don't seem to apply a mask in your video?

It's a zillion times better than what I had.

But inside... not quite clean cut perfect. I'm not trying to be a perfectionist or anything.

How can I refine further?

AFTER selecting: the selection goes away. Can I get this selection back or save it?

Thanks.
