Find & Replace Text Colour only

I often read hints of others and mentioned myself the option to replace a text colour via Find & Replace for an entire document. Now I want to use it but can't make it work. Since there are no saved styles applied I choose "Format" in the cog menu and define the font colour in the Character section and it gets displayed in F&R > Find as expected.

– What might prevent in this setup below F&R from finding any result but reporting only <No results found>?

It works when I try it. Can you provide a sample document where it doesn't work for you? That should allow further analysis.

Could it matter that in the F&R > Format > Choose Format > Colour the value fields refuse to accept typing but only sliders can be used instead?
(as far I remember this is a known issue since months, at least on macOS / for any such panel)

Thanks, via Swatch it works, + the Colour Picker in the Choose Format colour panel, too. – What an insane oddity in the interface … "by design"!

In case you can recall the thread I'd like to read there.

That means the sliders can in fact create decimals but the numerical fields don't display them in this case … another weirdness!

I recently noticed in this post that a slider created decimals in the field while I was not able to type such a value.

I do believe that the text may have been assigned the colour 0 0 0 in RGB. Searching for the same colour values taken from the CMYK panel won't work. Could even be that it was assigned the colour Black from the Swatches Grey Palette.

Hä? Why that? You see the two screenshots above (text frame selected + colour panel visible) and you can check the uploaded document. – So what makes you "believe" or assume an RGB 000 at all?

I can find it in my text document, by typing, but I also set the color initially by typing. How did you set the text fill color in your document?

I did a test. Trying something out. I have noticed that the Recent colours in the Swatches pane (in the Find section) show the colours as they were made. CMYK, RGB, Lab, HSL....

Sounds contradictory to me. Are the two posts related to the F&R Format > Colour, or does the second refer to a different situation / interface spot?

But how did you set the sliders in the color panel? By dragging, or by typing (which is what I did).

I wouldn't use this in any workflow myself though as I'd rather take the color from an existing object or just create a textstyle and use that.

No, it doesn't work in that file. You've also said, I think, that took the babies for the Find doesn't work in your files. 

It does work, in mine, as long as the color was also set originally by typing the value. 

But I would normally set the color via a Text Style, too.
