It would be nice to see more template add-ons!

Recommended Posts

It would be nice to see more template add-ons, that could mate this Desktop Publisher, all round for all types of publication documents, for this well-designed Affinity Published.

Which since from all your Serif PagePlus editions did have and were made for doing "greeting cards", which I feel is a great shame that you have abandoned from this from your New Publisher.

So, it would be very nice from your team to have a re-think of making new templates that would be very useful and I also, think others too would here!

Even if you were not born creative (like me), it is easy to make your own creations.

The internet is full of pre-designed templates. Not at all in native Affinity Publisher file format, but usable.

Welcome to the forums @Pwl

Various people have asked for similar things.
Have you looked in the Resources section of the forums?

It’s worth remembering that a template for, for example, a birthday card, will be of a specific size and will need to be manually re-worked to fit on paper of a different size.
The same thing goes for an A4 report template which someone else wants to use with Letter paper, or an A5 landscape flyer which someone wants to have in Portrait, etc. etc.
Every user has their own needs and a single template cannot cater for every need.

Templates are great for doing some things quickly but they can soon become limiting and awkward to use once your needs differ from those of the person who created the template.

I guess it will not be added(but could be wrong of course)
It would mean paying designers to create>adds to the program pricing.
License out the designs created >adds to the program pricing.

You can find templates around the net free or paid.
Or you can create them yourselves.

Thanks for your info' which I would be glad to pay for template set-up for A 4 cards size, for using on greeting cards. Which like in Serif PagePlus X9 and with set-up guidelines within and made it easy to work with!

But not everybody would like a higher price because of added stuff they maybe never use.

You can export these as pdf and use them in Af~

A good idea, but unfortunately you cannot export any set-ups or files from Serif PagePlus X9, as a PDF format to A/F. All PagePlus files have their own format stampings and will not export to another format.
A/F does not recognise the file format of any PagePlus files.
Also, PagePlus and A/F cannot Import other formats, apart from their own! That's a pity.

The only way, like the other ones on here, are sayings, is to make your own template, which I have been looking at on YouTube.

Yes, I agree with you here, and it looks like the only way, is to make your own creations. Which I have seen and been watching on YouTube.

  1. Go to Page Plus;
  2. Open the Page Plus document;
  3. Export the document as a PDF document;
  4. Go to the Affinity application;
  5. Open the PDF document;
  6. Save as an Affinity document.

Thank you for welcoming me, which I have been looking over in the resources section of this forum and found that most of them make their own creations. Which seems the only way to go!

It will not allow you to make a PDF or export the document as a PDF document in  PagePlus or even import one too

I haven’t used Page Plus since very early on in its lifetime so I don’t know how it works in its latest incarnation, but Serif’s official recommendation for getting documents from Page Plus to the Affinity applications is via PDF so I feel reasonably confident that Page Plus will export to PDF.

If you can tell us what you are trying to do, how you are trying to do it, and how it’s not working, then someone can probably advise further.

Plus, PagePlus has its own stamping file format and will not export or be saved in PDF format.

I don’t know what a “stamping file format” is so I’ll leave this to one of the Page Plus experts (of which there are plenty in the forums).

Thanks for your info' here, Garry.

@Pwl - We no longer officially support the 'Plus' range of software, here on the Affinity Forums or on the Legacy 'communityplus' site.

I can confirm that PagePlus is able to export the Template documents to PDF, as I've just had a colleague do this, and then import the saved PDF into Publisher.

If you're still having trouble with the PagePlus software, please see the below FAQ:

Any further discussion or requests for support regarding the 'Plus' range will result in this post being locked, many thanks for your understanding.

Thanks for your info', but what you have sent me on this link: Is for Legacy Unlock Codes for the software, for one to be able to move from another computer to another.

Nowhere does it show me or explain on how to create a PDF file.

Sorry to say to you here? - You cannot and will not from PagePlus make you an export PDF file for a Template to be exported.

So, I am confirming here? - It cannot be done in PagePlus!

So, I would love to know how this colleague managed to do this?

One can click on a normal PDF file, and then choose to open up with A/P or PagePlus to see and work on it.

But sadly not the other way around of opening up PagePlus file format to be exported as a PDF file.

Note, I have never used PagePlus but... I have to ask this.

@Pwl do you have PagePlus running on your computer? Can you open a PagePlus file with it? Could you show a screenshot of the Export Dialog window from PagePlus. There has to be some item that allows you to export the file in different formats.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.2
Affinity Designer 2.3.1 | Affinity Photo 2.3.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.3.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Please read the first post of the FAQ I have provided carefully, as this confirms the following:

Serif no longer sells or supports the Plus range of software.

These forums are provided for Affinity customers to ask questions about Affinity software. Please do not create forum accounts here to ask Legacy Software questions. Any threads created here on the Affinity Forums requesting support for these products will be locked by our team and you will simply be pointed back to this thread, as we wish to keep these forums for Affinity support only.

If you require assistance that the posts below do not provide, a dedicated member of the Plus range community has created their own unofficial legacy forums to help to continue to support users, but please note this is not directly affiliated with Serif -

You will not receive an official response with support for the PagePlus software on the Affinity Forums.

This thread is now locked.
