Change shape of a photo

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm using Affinity designer and am trying to convert a photo, which is a rectangle of 4272 x 2878 dimensions, into a circle.

I'm trying to use the donut tool from within the segment tool to trim the photo down to a circle, but can't figure out how to do that. Any ideas? Basically, I want the photo to be in a circular shape, rather than a rectangle.

Thanks.

Following this tutorial, I was able to export as a circle: https://scriptverse.academy/tutorials/affinity-designer-crop-image-into-circle.html

One question I have is: I want to just export the circle, not the white background that comes with it. Any idea how to do that? (see attached image). I have the 'transparent background' box checked in the document setup.

Thanks.

In Affinity Photo make sure Document > Transparent Background is ticked and you should then see the checkerboard pattern on screen

If so, then export as a PNG file (not a JPG file)

Thanks...that works for .png. Any idea why it doesn't work for jpg?

The JPG file format does not, natively, support transparency
