Is there a way to do a conical warp in Designer?

Recommended Posts

I need to warp artwork so that it can be printed and put onto a tapered item, like a latte mug.

In other products the UX might look like the image below. I would sure like to avoid an export/import rodeo with crummy design app I have which does have this one useful feature.

Has anyone figured out how to do this in the Affinity suite? It doesn't have to be as pretty as the below, as long as it is reliable.

I don't think so in Designer but you may want to look into the Equations Filter in Affinity Photo if you need to do this a lot

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

The poor man's way for plain vectors and ADe, in case of that simpler shown rectangle/trapezoid shape here, convert that to curves and bend thing with the Node tool afterwards. For the circle part together with a rect things are more challenging here. You may would have to bend the circle too seperately in same suitable manner, since bending them together is a more difficult task to get a right looking bend circle here then.

For the rect part it would ~ look like this ...

Overall it's a pity that plain vector based distortions (warping, perspective ... etc.) are still missing in ADe, it's feature wise something which has been demanded to be added long time, but still nothing has happened in this direction yet! - Thus one always has mostly to go the (stony) workaround way via some more capable third party tools for vector distortions here! 😒☹️

I still guess he wants a vector envelope distortion inside the shape like Inkscape does fo instance ...

Yes obviously, but as so often already said/told in the forum here, ADe itself sadly doesn't have any such feature support for vector based distortions!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help.

It looks like the lesser evil for now will be to use another product, since I do have one with this specialized function. It's just so inconvenient to convert an elegant ADe document full of clipping paths and so on into a portable SVG!

I'll head to the other thread where we complain about missing features now. ;)
