Pictorialism Effect

Recommended Posts

This is a picture of a friends cat (Cutie) that was taken with a low quality cell phone camera. Decided to turn it into a 19th century photograph, inspired by pictorialism. I'm sure if I spend more time on it, it would look better, also, would probably help if I had a more hi-res photo of the cat. Any feedback welcome!image.thumb.png.5a500cfb2ae288defaf07fea72916d7f.png

This is the original image,

Why, did they have hi-res photos in the 19th century? Looks great the way it is

Well. a lot of early prints were made by contact printing large glass plate negatives, so they would, effectively, be "hi-res"!

(But I do like the softer look of Abdushakur's picture!)

I feel like something is missing though,

Nah, that's just you. Artists can look at their work for days thinking that it needs "something" else. It can drive you mad at times

Mind you, images of peoples' cats tend to be mostly the same. Extremely cute, yes, but other than that nothing out of the ordinary

Except for grandma's cat Jess but she (Jess) was one of a kind. Visiting grandma's house, as a kid, was always something we looked forward to because of Jess.
