Gemini80 Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 (edited) Hi all! So happy to find this community! I am new to photo editing but am really enjoying Affinty! I would like to insert or blend (not sure which approach would be better) one image into another. I have attached two screenshots to better illustrate what my end goal is. In the first image you can see the oval 'sun' outline on the bottom of the image - inside this oval I would like to have the second image with the colors seamlessly inside whilst still keeping the black oval outlines of the sun visible - I would like the colors from Image to just fill in the half oval space. I would be super grateful for a walkthrough or perhaps you can link me to a helpful video - I have searched youtube but am a little overwhelmed as I do not exactly know what approach is best. Thanks for all your help!! Edited September 4, 2022 by Gemini80 too many images Quote
GarryP Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 (edited) Welcome to the forums @Gemini80 My first attempt, in this specific case, would probably be to use the Segment Tool to create a segment the same shape and size of the ‘sun’ and then put the image inside the segment, then put the segment below the sun so the outline of the sun can be seen above the segment. See my attached quickly-and-crudely-made video. Note: Another way to get the ‘segment’ would be to draw a straight line with the Pen Tool, between the ‘ends’ of the sun, and then use the Node Tool to bend it to the same shape as the ‘edge’ of the sun, and then close the curve. There will be other methods which other people might add. 2022-09-04 12-26-00.mp4 Edited September 4, 2022 by GarryP Added note. Gemini80 1 Quote
RichardMH Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 A bit quick and dirty but load the 2 images into layers, resize the sun layer, then Darker Colour blend mode. You can use a mask to get rid of the bit above the line. Gemini80 1 Quote
Gemini80 Posted September 6, 2022 Author Posted September 6, 2022 (edited) Thank you for the kind replies - I ending up making a mask layer and carefully coloring (revealing it) in - the borders required me to zoom into single pixels to get it looking clean, but it worked best for me. Thanks again! Edited September 6, 2022 by Gemini80 Quote
