Gift - Can the Receiver of the gift change the email address on the account

I want to purchase the mac software and give it to another.  If I purchase it with my email address, can the receiver of the gift change it (the email address) and download the software.  I have no desire or wish to download the software so ..... I'm assuming the receiver of the gift will be the only person to download it.

The software is permanently linked to the email you use when you order it. Can I suggest creating an account for your friend using their email address and name.
