Rounding photo corners in affinity photo

I am trying to round corners in affinity photo but all I seem be able to do after using a rounded rectangle is end up with a PNG with the canvas showing, how can I achieve this and get rid of the canvas

Hi Ahmed Kassem,

It sounds like you need to go to Document > Transparent background then export your image to PNG in order to preserve transparency?

I did that but I get a white background I just want the photo without background

The image you uploaded does have a transparent background! You need to set the background to transparent in APhoto, as Callum said.

Are you sure the white background isn't from the tool you use to preview the exported PNG image?  Crosscheck with some previewer which allows to change it's window background color. - Or reopen the by APh generated/exported PNG in order to see if it has transparency or not.

Indeed, that appears to matter for PNG export. But why? I wouldn't expect this behaviour because there is a separate option for PNG export to choose the Matte colour AND since this setting is not required for transparent paper/canvas white for PDF export?

How are your layers setup? To me this appears to work though it requires the transparency grid being activated.
