I am a bit stumped. I am trying to slice an image in sub images, that need exact slicing. So what I did, just like in Photoshop (which I want to ditch), is to create pixel perfect guides so that each item to be sliced has a guide on each side. I found out about the export persona, so I tried using that, but I can't get the slices to snap to the guides. It's just ignoring those.

Am I missing something? I would expect this to be quite basic functionality?

My use case: I have a rendered piano keyboard, and want to slice the keys so I get an image for each key.

P.S. It can be solved/workaround by creating a Rectangle (without Fill and Stroke) with clipped Image (Image must be part of a Rectangle), and in the Export persona and Layers panel you select the Rectangle and use Create slice.

Don't forget the pixel perfect position and size of the rectangles/slices.

The export persona is a UI disaster that needs to be addressed. Hopefully by 3.0 we can have snapping 🙄

Why did Serif put so much effort into building so much functionality, only to leave out the most important part back in 2016 — and then never follow up? Useless, and there’s no hope they’ll ever fix it.

Serif, did you foolishly fill the usability specialist role you advertised internally? If so, be transparent with your customers. Continuing without proper UX expertise both insults and affects your entire customer base.

I agree. I just tested the new AI functionalities of Affinity Photo which are really welcome... But hey, THIS issue is still not solved which makes slices absolutely useless. And this is exactly the reason I need to stick to pixelmator Pro... For very basic features missing on Affinity Photo. :( Weird and sad.
