Amdival
I have an Affinity Publisher file. The file has 50 pages that were created using the Data Merge feature. How do I export so that I have 50 individual PDFs?

You can only export from Affinity as a single, 50-page, PDF file. Once exported, you could: 1. Open the PDF in a separate PDF editor that can split it. Or even 2. Open it in Designer or Photo, which will give you an Affinity document with 50 Artboards, and then use the Export Persona to to create Slices and export all of them to individual PDF files. Amdival
Thanks for the reply! I wanted to stay within Affinity, so I tried solution 2 first. It's super tedious. The quick work I did with the Merge Data feature is slowed down by this manual process. I'll stick with solution 1 and open the exported PDF in Illustrator to export as separate files. In Layers panel, click Create Slices 4. In Slices panel, choose PDF, and click the Export Slices button. Should be the work of a few moments, at most. The default file format is PNG. Is there a way to change every slice to PDF automatically? In step 4 of your walkthrough, you say "choose PDF", but where do I choose that at? I've tried highlighting all slices and choosing an export preset, but there is not one for PDF. ok ok I figured it out. I have to choose 1 slice and drop down the options. Choose PDF as the file format. Keep it highlighted then click the "Copy Export Format to Clipboard". Highlight all of the slices and click the "Replace export setup from clipboard" button. Thanks for steering me in the right direction! Old Bruce
walt.farrell
You're welcome. And sorry for forgetting a couple of steps; it's been awhile since I used that approach. Here is another way, select all the slices that you made in the Slices panel and change the preset in Export Options. This will change all the selected Slices to that preset. The method you found is great for when you want to change things from the basic presets or for making more than one export of each slice. For example I will need to make a full sized 16 bit TIFF and a much reduced sized 8 bit TIFF (or JPEG/PNG/PDF) of each slice. I can set up one slice and do that copy paste to affect all of them. I thought that should work, Bruce, but when I tried it (after Amdival posted their solution), I discovered that with multiple slices selected in the Slices panel, I was unable to select a new Preset in the Export Options panel. Perhaps a Mac vs Windows discrepancy? Old Bruce
Hmmm.... The only difference I see is that I have None selected in the Batch builder: and you have a blank. May well be a Windows vs. Mac thing. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4 Affinity Designer 2.4.0 | Affinity Photo 2.4.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I can get it to work, but I need to select everything in the Slices panel, including the "Background" layer (or whatever is is at the top of the panel. It's not enough to simply have all the slices that I created selected. Once I Ctrl+Click on that top one, the Export Options become available.
