Hi

I look for making a stream deck profle and I search where I can find the Affinity photo icons.

I can catch some from the manual but the resolution is very poor (36x36 or some sort). So are there any where the app icons with better resolution ? Can't serif provide them?

Best regards

Well those above referenced are mostly bitmap images (... as are those in the press-kits too). - Plain SVG vector representations of the Affinity logos give you more flexibility here in terms of adjusting them for custom needed sizes and resolutions. - See therefor ...

Damn. I haven't express myself correctly. The icons I look for are all the tools icons.

I know these products and have already the ones for Cubase, Ableton and Davinci (bought at Black Friday) but it's too expensive for me and not so useful. I mean I have around 600 icons for Cubase but in reality I just use 20 or 30 and I made a lot myself because these package not always fit my excat use.
So I experienced and not been convinced.

Then you probably have to rebuild those you need manually yourself, aka capture/extract those you will need from the Affinity UIs (... the toolbar, toolbar customization panel, docs etc.) and then since those will be small icons (36 x 36 etc.), try to vectorize them with some good online- or dedicated bitmap-to-vector converter/tracing app as SVG/PDF vector files. - Afterwards you can scale the vectorized icons to your needed size & resolution in ADe/APh and export them as PNGs.

It's some manual work to do, but will get you probably closer to what you're after!

I already tried online vector convertor but the ones I tried don't accept such low resolution. Morover I think it will be a lot of work because vectorial convertion are more effective with photo than geometric figure. And, speaking of geometric figure, it could be easier to recreate them directly.

So, at this moment we followed together the same way of thought (and it's why I'm here asking). May be Serif have created their icons in a better resolution or may be someone have already found a solution or made this work before.

By the way I begune to make my icons with the low resolution icons and if I have not better solution I'll do with it. I just have to convince myself that pixel art is great for this use. 😆

Maybe, but that's something Serif employes can tell you better here! - I can only tell you that the icons used inside the app resource archives are 18x18 px and 36x36 px sized PNGs. And that there are overall >= 3331 icons inside!

So in case it helps you, here are some 379 PNG icons of those 3331, mostly the various stuff for the Tools panel in the sizes named before above. You can fetch those you need, resize/scale them up etc. - You have to do the rest yourself, good luck!

This is driving me nuts! I used to know the file path to see where those PNG's were stored in each of the apps but now I can't remember what it was or how to find it.

So I would be most grateful if you could point me in the right direction, so to speak.

Those aren't stored as single PNG files in/under an apps resources section, instead they are stored/part of an accompanied assets catalog archive!

Take a look after ...

--> /Applications/Affinity Photo.app/Contents/Resources/Assets.car

Any idea how I could open that to see the individual parts of the catalog?

Also, do you know if it has always been like this or was there once in some older version(s) a folder somewhere in the app package that stored the PNGs individually? I would swear that once I could navigate to a folder full of the individual PNGs, including many with a "2x" version.

3331 icons! I wasn't expect so much but there are certainly a lot of variant depending of the states of the icons (like selected, unselected, not available, etc.)

It could be cool to be able to open this "Assets.car" and have individuals icons or Serif making them available somewhere in their website but I knew my demand having very poor chance to succed and, as said, I already start working with the 32x32 pixels. It's not so serious. Any way glad to learn something even it's only to fulfill curiosity.

If you were a Mac/iPhone developer, you maybe would know how to deal with car files. However try one of these probably easier for you to use tools ...

Best for you might be AssetCatalogTinkerer here, since AFAI recall you are overall more a mouse pusher aka GUI user at all and not that much used to shells & CLI!

Maybe, can't remember if I looked after those in former Affinity versions, since I usually don't tend to look after icon storage in foreign (not my own written) applications.

The Affinity line is commercial and no OpenSource software and thus it's pretty unlikely for them to make this offer (...making the app icons available somewhere).

FURTHER NOTE: that what I've shown and given as resources infos above, is only for private/personal workaround usage! - If Serif may have a problem with these given informations (... how to access/extract the Mac app icons) I would please them to freely delete my postings here inside this thread so far!
