Deano247 Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 HI there, I'm currently nerding out over the James Webb Space Telescope data that is being sent back to us daily and in particular the NIRCAM images. The files I am interested in are in .fits format and are of differing dimensions so need to be scaled I believe. I wondered if anyone has tried to process any of these images in Affinity Photo and if so, what sort of results did you get. I have some files downloaded but I am an absolute beginner and I'm not really sure what I am doing but going to try anyway! Just curious if anyone has tried this and if it is possible. Quote
Dan C Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 Hi @Deano247, Welcome to the Affinity Forums I can confirm this is possible in Affinity, using the Astrophotography Stacking feature. I'd recommend checking out the below tutorial and helpfiles on this functionality: https://affinity.serif.com/tutorials/photo/desktop/video/504455362/ https://affinity.help/photo/English.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Astrophotography/astro_about.html?title=About astrophotography stacking https://affinity.help/photo/English.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Astrophotography/astro_creating.html?title=Creating an astrophotography stack I hope this helps! Deano247 Posted September 1, 2022 Author Posted September 1, 2022 @Dan C, once again thanks for the information, it has definitely proved useful. I now have a fairly good understanding of what I'm doing, just need to keep practicing! So far I've completed 2 images which I'm very pleased with and I'm starting work on a couple of others. I've attached my first efforts if anyone is interested. Many thanks. Dan C 1 Quote
