Hi!

How do I make the maske a composite here?

image.png.68434605fcb93bdb8e8e3c5c7be8ea40.png

I want both the ellipse and the rectangles to act as a mask on the image.
And I want opacity-control of both rectangles?

The rectangles are behind the text.

Hi @GeirSol,

I believe the steps outlined in the below post should allow you to achieve this:

Please do let me know how you get on here!

Thanks!
In my case the added square is to subtract from the mask -making the background image smaller.
I wasn't able to do this.

In my example, of course, just having the rectangles as white rectangle layers easier.
But, I wanted to ask, to understand composite masks better.

No problem at all :)

If you're still having trouble applying this mask to your document, are you able to attach a copy of your .afpub file for me to look into this further for you?

Many thanks in advance!

Thanks for providing that for me!

I've implemented the above steps to create a composite mask, which required Rasterising the Image Layer to a Pixel Layer in order to work correctly.

You will find the size and opacity of all 3 shape layers can continue to be edited, as required. I hope this helpsĀ :)

Thanks, but that's how far I got myself.
Now, the rectangles are adding to the image. I'm looking for the opposite.

My apologies, I believe I misunderstood your original intentions!

If you want to remove the rectangular areas from this mask, I would use the following layer structure, with the Ellipse masking the Pixel layer, and then a clipped group set to Erase with your rectangles in:

At 100% opacity, they will fully mask the image behind your text, allowing you individual control of the opacity of the blend behind the text.

Does this achieve what you were hoping for? :)

Yes, that works. Thank you very much!
