Cartoonjosh
I have a large number of symbols in my Symbol Panel. The only way I can figure ot to delete them is to do it one by one. As specified in the instructions: "To delete a symbol: On the Symbols panel, control-click the symbol and select Delete Symbol." Is there a way to delete more than one at a time? I hope so... Dan C
Hi Cartoonjosh, I'm afraid this isn't a feature at the moment, though we appreciate the feedback. Lee
Cartoonjosh
Thank you for the answer, @LeeThorpe. Yes, symbols are a very nice feature in Designer. But it's quite easy to build up quite a library of bits and pieces (also because in some cases, like when creating a Symbol from a Group, Designer will automatically create a Symbol for each curve layer) means also the symbols must be organised. In fact, aside from an easy way to erase multiple symbols I think the Symbol Panel needs to be a little less basic. Take a look at the LIbrary panel in Adobe Animate, for example: it allows a clear way to visualise symbols and a text search to find individual ones. I have also found that crashes are more frequent when working witn Symbols. At least they are on a new M1 Mac... Dan C

If your Designer document has an Artboard just copy the Artboard and do File > New from Clipboard. The Symbol Panel will be reset (no symbols visible) although existing symbols will still function as symbols If no Artboard add a temporary rectangle to fill the canvas before copying all objects and then File > New from Clipboard 1. Check DPI of new document matches DPI of old doc (if important, adjust as required) 2. I don't know the sort of documents you create to know the full ramifications of the above, hence other "stuff" may be affected Cartoonjosh 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Cartoonjosh
thank you @carl123. That does work and I will definitely use it as a workaround to "clean" the Symbol panel. It's a good fast-wipe solution! This creates a completely empty Symbol panel, though, which means one can paradoxically be in the opposite situation of having to rebuild the Library by re-adding the Symbols to the panel (and renaming them, or renaming the layers, because Designer apparently doesn't pick the name up). This can be complex, especially when you have nested Symbols.
