Hi, I'm trying to shift to Affinity Photo after 25 years with Photoshop, so finding the change a little trying in some areas!

One of my common tasks in PS selecting using the polygonal lasso, but holding down shift to constrain the selection to vertical, horizontal or 45 degrees from the last point clicked. Is there a way of achieving the same lock in Affinity?

Thanks.

Do you mean in Freehand Selection Tool? (as far as I know, APhoto doesn't have polygonal lasso tool)
Only this:

Hi @derekjackson,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums :)

Unfortunately I'm not aware of any such option when using the Polygonal Mode for the Freehand Selection Tool (set on the Context Toolbar) -

When using this mode, holding Shift will temporarily switch the tool to the Magnetic option, unlike other Vector tools which constrain to the orthographic angles.

Therefore I'll move this thread to the Feedback section of our forums, for our devs to see and consider adding this option in the future.

I hope this helps!

You could not use the selection tool but use the Pen tool and then go to a Select > Selection from Layer and Delete

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Interesting - thanks, I'll give that a go.
