When I place text from Word into a text frame this appears at the top and sometimes in odd places throughout the document. Could someone please tell me what that means? Anything important?

Thanks

I think that this is a Word field code. There should be an option in Word to to toggle field codes on or off. Make sure it is set to off before copying the text.

Thanks, PaulEC. What happens if you don't turn it off? I did a lot of work editing that text and hope I don't have to start over!

AFAIK (It's been a while since I've used Word!) If you turn off displaying field codes, it should just display the actual text instead of the field codes.

<alt>F9 toggles field codes however this is a display feature in Word, the fields are not copied only their values

e.g. if I copy

and paste it into any other program then it appears as

Thank you. That makes sense. I just found out this is a code that has come across from starting out using Word Perfect and then moving text into Word. Just hope it doesn't affect Afpub

Cheers
