Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @Rick Jones.

What OS?

There's a FAQ but it's not up-to-date.

If you're on Windows, you can simply check the file's Digital Signature in File Explorer. Select the file, right-click, and choose properties. There should be a Digital Signature tab, and if you click one of the signatures you should be able to verify it right in the dialog. If it doesn't verify, or if the tab is missing completely, the download is corrupt.

  • Windows.
  • Right clicked on the affinity-designer-1.10.5.exe file
  • 7-Zip
  • CRC SHA
  • SHA 256 and got a  number that starts with adeeb... and ends with ...981b7b

BUT I can't match that up with anything within the Digital Signature tab.  Not sure what you mean by 'if you click one of the signatures you should be able to verify it right in the dialog'

The Digital Signatures tab contains a signature list with one or more ‘Name of signer’ entries. Left-clicking on one of those entries will cause the ‘Details’ button at the bottom of the dialog to become enabled, and pressing that button will trigger a signature check. When that check is completed you’ll see a message telling you whether or not the signature is OK, and if it isn’t then you’ll need to fetch a fresh download.

Right.

Really, doing the check seems to be unnecessary. In my experience, if the download is corrupt the Digital Signatures tab won't appear at all. So its mere presence seems to indicate that the download is good and the signatures match correctly.
