Text in Artistic Text Tool Appears Backwards Due to Flipped Path

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I'm trying to write text on a path for each slice of this circle. Parts of the circle had been copy-pasted and flipped around so that all the angles were the same/fit together. I know that if you flip an object and type text on the flipped object the text appears backwards. So, I converted everything into a curve (not a shape as it previously as). Then I copied everything again and edited those copied paths so that I could write text on the top of the slice's curve. But you can see it didn't do anything to stop the mirroring.

Everything in gray are the original slices I copied and flipped around. You can see the text for that appears alright. Clicking reverse text path and reverse curve only moves the text up and down (like "Purple"); it doesn't make the text appear legible.

Is there a way for me to fix the text w/o having to individually create and measure each slice?

Welcome to the forums @PeaaeP

One way would be to ‘reset’ the layer by performing a Geometry operation on it before adding the text.
You can do this by selecting the flipped layer and pressing the Geometry Add button on the Toolbar.
Then the text can be added ‘the right way round’.

There is no way that I know of to reverse the direction of the text – you can reverse the direction of the curve via the Context Toolbar of the Node Tool but that doesn’t always work as needed in this sort of case.

It’s not ideal if you already have text on the curve, you need to add the text later, but it works.
