JonaGona
Hello! The following problem: I am working with the live filter layer "lighting" to simulate daylight in a room from above. To emphasise the effect, I set the ambient light colour to a darker shade. However, I have elements that are not illuminated or areas where the light is blocked by walls. If I now use the mask, the ambient light colour is of course also lost and the much lighter original colour comes to light. However, I find the effect of the lighting is not simulated as nicely when working with several layers and since I usually make full use of the 10 usable light elements, I would also not want to apply such a large number of individual layers. Question: Is there a way to apply the mask only to the light source and not to the ambient light colour? Or a good trick how to get around this problem? Thanks a lot! Staff NathanC Posted August 9, 2022 Staff Share Posted August 9, 2022 Hi @JonaGona welcome to the forums, As far as i'm aware masking the Lighting filter will always mask out all effects the filter applied to the masked area, so you wouldn't be able to keep specific settings E.G ambient lighting using only one layer. In terms of workarounds, it would be beneficial if you could provide us with a sample file which you're trying to achieve this on.

Then mask the copied result instead of its nested Lighting Filter. Also the blend range curve of the copied image layer can mask the lighting. • Don't use the Lighting Filter but vector curve layers as "light objects". Use transparency gradient fill, blur fx or filter, blend mode, maybe blend range curve to achieve the wanted look for each "light". Optionally apply masks to the objects (or to groups of them). Use "lock children" to move the light objects without moving their masks. Thank you all for your fast Response. I found a workaround Like thomaso recommended. Using vector shapes and Set them on overlay works (Kind of) for me... thomaso
