waltonmendelson
I am using Affinity Publisher, ver. 1.10.5.1342 on a Windows 10 system. I have a 1-page table that is in the wrong place on the page (1/2" off). I can move it with the arrow keys, but as soon as I do anything, it snaps back. This page is not threaded to any other page. The table is not locked. However, when I have moved it, I tried locking it: 1) using Layer > Lock/unlock, and 2) in the layers palette, applying the lock/removing the lock to the selected layer/table. No matter what I do, it snaps back. I cannot click and drag it, the Move Tool cursor, the black arrowhead, gets a small red X under it when I try. This is part of a large project that was started in InDesign many years ago. Updated through various versions of InDesign, converted from Indd to idml then to Affinity Publisher. Odds are there is something from one of the many InDesign revisions which has resulted in it being locked or pinned to a particular location in the flow or on the page itself. Without the actual .idml file we can only speculate as to the cause or possible solution. Staff Callum Posted August 4, 2022 Staff Share Posted August 4, 2022 Hi waltonmendelson, As Old Bruce has already mentioned without the file we can't do much here. If you could provide a copy of it we should be able to look into this further with you. Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. waltonmendelson
Thank you both. I will upload the file in a bit. Walton
waltonmendelson
Here is the packaged file. The "bad" page is 21. I have uploaded a screen shot of the correct position of this table, marked with arrows and guidelines. My apologies if uploading the zipped file is correct. I uploaded an unzipped version, and it listed every component as a separate file. I am not on this forum enough to understand its workings and to know what is right. Old Bruce
What we have here is a table. It is Pinned into the text flow. Unpin it using the View > Studio > Pinning panel and then you can set some Text Wrap on it using the Text Wrap from the toolbar. waltonmendelson
Easy-peasy! I didn't know about the Pinning panel. Now I do. Thank you. (The original in InDesign was not pinned.) I use the Text Wrap panel all the time, but the instant I unpinned the table and other text flowed back up into it, there was a moment of panic. So the second bit of your advice was timely. If you ever find yourself in Prescott, perhaps for the World's Older Rodeo (why?), I'll buy you a beer. Thank you. Walton
