To be able to edit the nodes you first need to convert the text to curves.

Alternatively to editing curves (which would make text uneditable as text) you could assign an outer stroke in paper or background colour.

Below a stroke is applied to the entire text and thus affects the first line, too, ('u') – but you also can assign a stroke only to selected characters. (To me r and o don't overlap because I don't have your fonts installed.)

Sorry I keep forgetting about the font being installed.

There you first still have to convert text into curves. Then select the o and add two new nodes at the two intersections of o and r. Then you can delete the nodes of o that appear inside the r.

Workaound: If 'memories' currently has no fill colour assigned then the overlap will disappear if you assign a fill color. But if this font doesn't have that fill (but contour only) then the fill colour is for this contour and the workaround would not work.

Or, perhaps, using the Typography settings in the Character panel, the font might let you choose a different form of the letter "o" that works better.
