I'm working on some artwork in AD where some parts are upside-down and I'm referring to another document (also open in AD) as a source for reference.

I've rotated the document 180 degrees but EVERYTIME I switch tabs to the reference doc, AD resets the rotation in the first document!
It's honestly driving me crazy and would like to know if theres some way to stop this behaviour and lock the document to the upside-down view till I'm ready to reset it manually.

Anyone had this issue?

Rotate Document or rotate View?

Hi @homeyJay,

Thanks for your report!

I can confirm this is a known issue, which is already logged with our developers - unfortunately there's no option to 'lock' the canvas rotated view when switching between open documents, my apologies.

I will be sure to 'bump' this issue with our developers now, to bring it to their attention once more.

I hope this helps :)

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!

As a workaround, rasterize the rotated document. Remember not to resave it in its rotated state when you close it!

LOL, that's a recipe for disaster..

All right, then! Make a copy of the reference document, rotate and rasterize. Then you can safely save it to give you unfettered access to both states.

It's the editing document that I'm rotating - the source is viewed normal rotation. No matter what I do, everytime I look at the reference doc, the rotation resets. Even if I save the document upside down, the view resets. Just have to wait for the fix, I guess..

Not entirely sure what you are doing but if you are using an Artboard, you can add a second Artboard and then rotate the view 180 degrees

Then File > Place your reference Designer document onto the second artboard and it will appear the right way up

Now there is no need to switch document tabs as both your working document and the reference document are on the same screen

If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.
