JimPetty
I have a weird bug in Affinity Publisher -- if I type a "C." (capital C, period), Publisher frequently converts the capital C to lower case. For example, if I type "John C. Doe", as soon as I type the period, the "C" changes to "c". However, if the "C." begins a sentence or paragraph, it's unchanged. The problem is easily corrected by selecting the lower case "c" and overwriting it with a "C". However if I type a "." after it, it changes back to lower case. This problem doesn't occur with any other letters. I'm using the latest versions of Affinity Publisher and MacOS Monterey. I don't know how long this problem has existed (I've just been living with it), but I'd guess at least six months. Jim
Komatös
Hi @JimPetty Maybe an entry in the autocorrect option. But I don't know where to find on publisher for Mac. In Windows to find under Edit -> Autocorrect. Staff stokerg Posted July 28, 2022 Staff Share Posted July 28, 2022 Hi @JimPettyand Welcome to the Forums, Try this, go into Preferences for Affinity and on the Auto-Correct section, uncheck Capitalise first letter of sentence, then close Preferences. Now try typing and you should find it doesn't happen again

With that option unchecked, i'm able to type the name without the C being changed to lowercase. I'm on a Mac at the moment, so can't confirm if its the same on Windows. PaulEC
Seems to be the same on Windows, but as JimPetty pointed out, it's odd that it only happens with C! EDIT: I think I've tracked it down! c. is listed in Abbreviations and C. gets auto corrected to c. - remove it from the list of Abbreviations and it is no longer "corrected". walt.farrell
Or if you notice it immediately as you're typing it, you should be able to Undo and fix it that way, too. But it means you have to be watching the screen carefully as you type, so that's not a great workaround. JimPetty
Thanks, everyone, for your responses. Here's what worked: stokerg and Alfred got it right for me -- unchecking "Capitalize ..." in Autocorrect works. I also tried PaulEC's suggestion of removing the "c." from the Abbreviations list, but it had no effect on the problem. walt.farrell: I agree - it's a crappy work-around, but I was too lazy to dig for the answer.
