TOC - when the Title has a tab in it, how to get rid of it in the TOC

Recommended Posts

I created a text style called Class Title.  It has description TAB  Class and number.

When the style is added to the TOC the Class 1 is put with the page number.  I would like it to be to the left after Pet Show with just the page number at the right.  Without having to edit it manually as there will be quite a few of these when done.

Suggestions on how to do this, are much appreciated.  Whether it is something I need to do in the TOC style or do something different in the document.

Thanks

Viola

Off the top of my head you might try adding a tab to which ever ToC style has this unwanted result. Set it to an Em space (the height of the font size in points). this might bring that Class 1yb thing to the left.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

HI Old Bruce,

Not sure how to set to Em space.  When I click on the Add tab stop, it inserts the one from the style that puts in the right hand tab.  I have tried all kinds of different settings on this and nothing changes.

I think I have figured it out...

This is how I set the tab stops.  The first entry sets the page number location.  The second entry sets where the Class text goes.

This is what the TOC looks like.

Important to remember that you are dealing with two separate Paragraph styles here.

Tabs for the Heading Style would be like this:

Note the use of From Right in the little window from the ellipsis on the added tab stop. Note also the use of 0 (zero) for the size of the tabs.

Here is the settings for the ToC tabbed style:

Note that you may most likely need to hit the Delete button on the little window in order to make some changes stick, delete and then make a new tab.

Finally here is a file:

Tabs and ToC 01.afpub hope this helps.
