lbohen
I want to create a gradient onto the attached image 1 (crowd-5498373-1920x1149) like the gradient in image 2 (web-dev-23.png). The blue gradient is #115CFC. How do I do that?
v_kyr
Place/create a new layer on top and fill it with a linear gradient, probably slanted flown fitting your image orientation (see gradient editing), lower the opacity settings for the gradient stop points so the background image shines through the way you want. lbohen
Is one program (Photo vs. Designer) better / easier than the other to apply a gradient? Ignore. I believe your instructions refer to Photo.

I believe your instructions refer to Photo. It’s just as easy in Designer, but the corresponding tool is called the Fill Tool. I was able to create the #115CFC create in Photo by creating a new fill layer. Now I have two layers (fill & background). The background layer is the original image I want the gradient to apply to. Although I have the two layers, the gradient layers is NOT overlaying the image. ???

Try apply fx function (Gradient Overlay) with Opacity.
