Artboard from selection shifted top left

Recommended Posts

When I make an artboard with the size of a selection, the artboard is allways off: shifted to top and left. Even in a simple document with only one rectangle.

Is this happen to others as well?

Hi @RM f/g,

Thanks for your report and I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble.

Can you please confirm for me, do you have Bleed setup in your document?

If possible, can you provide a short screen recording of this happening?

Many thanks in advance :)

Thanks for confirming that for me and for the file provided!

I can confirm this is occurring as your object is not pixel aligned - when creating Artboards, the first one created will always default to 0,0 for the X&Y coordinates.

This means if your object is not perfectly pixel aligned before creating the artboard, the artboard will be created at 0,0 and the object used to create it will then be on a 'part pixel' value, slightly misaligned from the artboard itself (for example 0.5,0.8 for X&Y).

There are 2 options here, firstly the Artboard is created at the correct size, so you can select the Rectangle and use the Transform Studio to set the X&Y to 0,0.

Secondly, you can ensure the Rectangle is pixel aligned before creating the artboard, to ensure both artboard and object are created at 0,0. This can be done using the Force Pixel Alignment snapping option on the top toolbar. Once enabled, you will have to re-draw or move the rectangle to ensure it is snapped to the pixel grid.

I've included a quick recording of these options below for you:

I hope this helps :)
