refine discepear

When I use the define button then after a few counts the overlay is gone. So I can't refine. (I speak badly Englisch and don't understand everything). I stopped the computer already, but afterwards it is the same. I have tried it with the control when I start up Affinity it did also not work. Screenshots below:

Have you tried disabling Hardware Acceleration (The last checkbox) under Preferences > Performance and restarting Photo to see if it prevents this issue?

Dank je Nathan voor het antwoord. Ik heb gedaan wat je zei (disabling Hardware Acceleration) en daarna op 2 manieren opnieuw begonnen. Een keer met een herstart en een keer door computer uit te zetten en weer aan.

The user in the below thread encountered the same/a similar issue to you which was caused by a 3rd party app interfering 'PopClip', do you perhaps have this/any apps which interferes with the mouse click behaviour installed?

Thank you for the answer. I have Affinity Photo from the apple shop in 2017 and Designer and Publisher in 2021 from the affinity shop. What pop click is, I don't know.
Verder in mijn eigen taal. Ik ben 71 jaar oud en begrijp niet waar ze het allemaal over hebben in het bovenstaande antwoord. Als een app niet werkt zoals je verwacht is heel moeilijk te vinden wat er aan de hand is. Ik ben zelf een digibeet.

If you don't have the previously mentioned app installed, no need to worry just needed to confirm.

Could you send over a screenshot of your settings under Preferences > Performance as well as a screenshot of your 'About this mac' overview page?

Apologies for the late reply,

Have/Could you try the below to confirm if any of the below resolve the issue:

• Set ‘Display’ to Metal (Leave Hardware Acceleration Unticked) and restart the app.
• Go through Control Run-up and Clear user data with all boxes ticked (Be sure to back up any custom assets/brushes first)
• Uninstall/Reinstall the App

@Ria The missing information is for you to look at the Preference's panel for Performance.

On Mac OS it is under the Affinity menu or type Command + , (Command and the comma key). If you are on Windows check the Help menu and type Preferences.

Look under the Performance tab for what @NathanC has suggested changing.

• Uninstall/Reinstall the App I don't trust that. I have lost to many photo's yet when I was searching. An app has to function with me and therefore I let it be as it are now,  and I will try it with something else. Perhaps that works also but not so gut. Thank you for answering my question.

Bijvoorbeeld: Ik krijg nu bij de 'selectie tool' en klikken op de foto dit: "Raster smart Selection Bruch and drag". Helemaal anders als normaal selecteren. Het programma wil dan niets anders meer doen en dan kom ik nog dieper in de problemen als ik dingen verander.

Vervolgens begrijp ik er niets meer van

Gebruikt u het gereedschap Selectiepenseel in plaats van de selectiegereedschappen uit de vrije hand/vormkader? Deze worden bewaard in een apart uitklapmenu voor gereedschappen, zoals hieronder weergegeven.

Are you using the Selection Brush tool instead of the freehand/shape marquee selection tools? These are kept in a separate tool fly-out menu as shown below.

In een cursus over Agility photo moest ik de 'freehand Selection tool' gebruiken van bijvoorbeeld een persoon om de kleur te veranderen, maar zelf gebruikte ik altijd de 'slection Brush tool'. Waar maak ik een fout in mijn gedachten? 
Blijft staan dat de 'Slection Brush Tool' ineens verdwijnt tijdens het werken.

Opnieuw installeren zou geen van uw bestaande foto's op uw Mac moeten verwijderen en kan in dit geval het proberen waard zijn, aangezien geen van de eerder genoemde suggesties uw probleem heeft opgelost.

Re-installing shouldn't remove any of your existing photo's on your Mac and may be worth a try in this case since none of the previously mentioned suggestions have fixed your issue.

Thank you Nathan. Morgen ga ik één voor één jouw 'links' stukje bij beetje na doen. Wie weet heb ik met mijn cursus Affinity Photo wel iets verkeerd hebben staan. In jullie boek was na ieder hoofdstuk duidelijk dat je 'ctr affinity Photo' moest doen om alles weer recht te zetten, maar dat deden ze bij die cursus niet. Dus; ik ga eerst alle settings na.
Grappig is dat ik ook met een zelf bedacht project bezig ben, die alle drie Affinity Books gebruikt. Dus het is een beetje druk. Ik ben er iedere dag mee bezig.
Als ik alles heb na gekeken ga ik hier naar de bibliotheek om andere senior nerts met de computer te vragen de re-installing voor mij te doen, maar ze zijn er niet iedere dag.

Een heugelijke mededeling. Na een nieuwe update van vandaag van mijn Apple Mac book lijkt het dat alles weer functioneert!

Het leek dus te liggen aan mijn apple computer. Morgen ga ik nog meer uit proberen en dan schrijf ik dit hier.
