I have Affinity Photo loaded on both my laptop and PC and have a strange issue with the sharpening tool on the PC. Until recently, all was fine but now if I open Unsharp Mask on the PC, the radius slider makes minimal difference when moved, limiting the radius of sharpening. The factor slider seems to operate as before. I thought the software may have been corrupted so deleted and reinstalled but that has made no difference. The software is operating as it should on the laptop and allows a far greater degree of sharpening.

Purely for illustrative purposes (ie, exaggerated), I attach copies of the same image sharpened on both the laptop and pc - first converted to JPG unedited from raw, resized to the same pixel counts and the same sharpening values (radius and factor) used on both. The greater detail on the laptop version is plain to see (I note that although the same pixel values have been used, the file sizes are different, larger on the laptop version, I assume reflecting the greater degree of sharpening.....)

Any thoughts?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I do not fully understand the way you are editing the files.

The images have far more differences besides sharpness.

It would help if you can:

  1. do screen recordings of the complete process
  2. attach the afphoto files used during the edits, saved with „save history“ active

I think it would be helpful to see at least a screenshot of your whole screen, with Layers-Studio-Panel visible. Possibly you are on a wrong layer (Live or Adjustment Layer). It is not easy to say something without having closer informations.
