ONiel
Again a problem which should be so easy to do, and IS easy to do in software like GIMP or Photoshop... but seems impossible in Affinity Designer.. I have a white background with a stripe in the middle. Everything right from the stripe should be transparent, everything left should be white. I tried using the selector brush on the right part and pressed 'Delete' but that did not work. File in attachments, I am curious how this is done in Affinity... transparent.afdesign

Staff Lee_T Posted July 15, 2022 Staff Share Posted July 15, 2022 Hi ONiel, I think this small tutorial on how to use our dedicated Transparency Tool will give you all the info you need, I think you'll find it a pretty powerful feature. No, what you have is an image layer derived from a png image that has a transparent (not white!) background. So like @RM f/g suggested, if you change the document background to transparent, you will see that the stripe layer has no background. I'd also suggest when working in a vector design program when you wish to have transparency for your output, to lay an image or something in the bottom layer to toggle on/off so you know what's transparent and not. Everything right from the stripe should be transparent, Additionally to what was mentioned already about transparency in your file: Beyond masking, a very quick and simple way to achieve non-destructive transparency is using an object or pixel layer with Blend Mode set to Erase. Its erasing hierarchy can get limited by nesting / grouping. Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
