I would like to have the option to transform a selection (e.g. created by magnetic lasso tool) into a curve. It would be a small step into the direction of assisted bitmap to vector trace tool.

Selections created by lasso tools are always edge-sharp, so creating a curve from them should be really easy.

Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps.

I use iPad screenshots and videos even in the Desktop section of the forum when I expect no relevant difference.

But how many nodes would be needed and where would they be placed? It is not easy. It is hard.

Here is a quickly done (so far from accurate) simple example of circles done with the pen tool.

Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

the lasso tool is actually making a huge number of nodes - just use them as there were created.

I don't care if there will be 2 nodes for every pixel.

Photoshop has this feature. It's called "make work path" what translates to "make curve" in Affinity...

Am I right, that this is not yet present in Affinity Photo?

To see how they overcome the problem with the number of points you can search for "Hate Using the Pen Tool? Make it Automatic!" in youtube. Go to 2:50, there you are...

Let me know, if that is available in Affinity Photo and I have just not found it.

You are correct, it isn't in the Affinity applications.
