Stewartwatson
Hi I have been beta testing the beta version(s) of Affinity Photo for a couple of months now, i have downloaded 2 versions since I started and am currently using version 1.3.5.15. I have not tried to use it for a few days but when I tried to go into it today via LR, I get a message that will not allow me to open it and message that says I can only open this beta version if i have purchased a retail version, Which I HAVE. in LT if I try to edit my image in my purchased Affinity version its fine and I thought this might"clear the blockage" but next time i tried to use the beta version again NO JOY
mac_heibu
Go to the AppStore and load the newest version of Affinity Photo", which is 1.4., and all will become fine!
Staff MEB Posted December 25, 2015 Staff Share Posted December 25, 2015 Hi Stewartwatson, That Beta (1.3.5.15) has expired and will not work anymore. You have to upgrade Affinity Photo to the latest version (1.4) from the App Store app as @mac-heibu suggested (which includes everything from that old Beta and a few more things) and if you want to continue testing Beta versions, you can download the latest one from here (1.4.1). MikeFromMesa
MEB: I am getting the same message as the OP. My installed version is 1.4.1. My installed beta is beta 4. This seems a bit odd as I was using the same combination a couple of days ago with no problem. Now I am getting the message telling me to buy the MAS version. It is not so big a problem for me as I will just use the MAS version, but I do have to ask why this is happening.
Staff MEB Posted January 26, 2016 Staff Share Posted January 26, 2016 Hi MikeFromMesa, That's because the Beta 1.4.1 is now obsolete. We already released the corresponding Mac App Store version (1.4.1), which is now the most up to date version, so the Beta is not recognised anymore (you can safely move it to the trash). A new Beta cycle will start soon. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software | Affinity Quick Reference | Call for Camera Images
MikeFromMesa
OK. That works for me. Thank you for the speedy response.
Lojza
We discuss the same thing here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/17239-unable-to-use-beta-after-app-store-version-updates/ It's quite a pain to live this few weeks without all the presets from beta version. It would be nice if the developers wouldn't lock access to latest beta. There's not much added value in the MAS version, and I would quite well go with latest beta until new beta cycle is initiated... Just my two cents.
