Wrong size of exported JPG

Recommended Posts

I'm using AD 1.10.5.1342 on Win.

When exporting a file for print as a JPG, the export size (in this case with a bleed but even without, it's the same problem) is wrong.

I'm not doing anything exotic, so I can't imagine where there could be a problem. A PDF export works well as long as I'm not using an artboard (because there it had problems). Generally, those export issues with AD are making it hard to move away from a spare Photoshop and that's not good for the product.

Hi @datorhaexa,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble!

Can you please provide a copy of your .afdesign file, and a screenshot of your JPEG export settings so we can investigate this further?

If you'd like a private upload link for this file, please let me know :)

Many thanks for providing that for me! I would expect the exported JPEG from your document, including bleed, to measure 57mm x 87mm - the reason you're seeing 57.1mm is due to JPEG requiring 'full pixel' sizes when exporting, and 57mm x87mm @ 300dpi would be 673.2 px x 1027.6 px.

Therefore, when exporting this has to be rounded to 674px x 1028px - or 57.1mm x 87mm.

Unfortunately this cannot be changed, as it's required for raster formats to be 'full pixels' in size.

If you are printing this document and require exact millimeter sizing, I'd recommend exporting to PDF and then printing this.

I hope this clears things up :)
