I am in the process of scanning my photos from 1979 and up.  I have been at this for months.  First I scan the photoa, then I use affinity designer to crop them, then I use affinity photo to clean them.

No problem with anything except for my 1990 folder which I noticed I forgot to crop and clean the pictures so I moved them to a folder named A TEMP but when I try to open any .jpg file in that folder I get the error message

Failed to open file

/Users/dfavrefelix/Desktop/A TEMP/1990-08-13 Yarmouth - Birth of Dylan Audrey holding Dylan 004.jpg

The file type is not supported.

I can open any other files created today or 6 months ago but not the files stored in A TEMP.  I have tried renaming the files, copying them and saving them in a new folder

but I can't seem to get around that problem.  I even used the file from the RECENT folder but same issue.  Yeah I am annoyed to day the least.  There are about 75 files in that folder that I would rather not scan again.  I purchased these apps about 4 or 5 years ago in case you want to know this and I think I ordered them not from Apple but from the company who makes these two applications.

What can I do to fix this?

Thank,

dfavrefelix

Can you open any of the files in this folder using the Mac Preview app? If so, what does that app's Inspector window say about the file type?

If Preview app says it is a TIFF image it probably is. So when you say you've "got" .jpg as the filetype, how did you get them all to show that? If you just renamed any of them in Finder by adding or changing the filetype extension, that won't work.
