Grandadjim
Hi I am trying to create a linear fill in text where the fill is identical in each individual character in the paragraph. I can create a fill which covers the whole paragraph but this is not what I want - can anybody help. Regards
Staff NathanC Posted June 23, 2022 Staff Share Posted June 23, 2022 Hi @Grandadjim, Could you clarify exactly what you're looking to do with fills with any screenshots/examples so we might better be able to assist? Are you referring to the fill colour inside the character or a fill area surrounding each individual character?
Grandadjim
Hi I want to fill the inside of each character so that they all have identical fills. I have attached a file which I think will explain what I mean Thank you text fill example.afpub
David in Яuislip
Try this Convert to curves Select the first character Use the fill tool to apply a gradient Change the colours Copy Select the other characters Edit/Paste style attached file has the history saved so you can replay the steps text fill example-dc.afpub Quote Microsoft Windows 11 Home, Intel i7-1360P 2.20 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Intel Iris Xe Affinity Photo - 24/05/20, Affinity Publisher - 06/12/20, KTM Superduke - 27/09/
lacerto
To keep it as text, I would create multiple rectangles with the desired gradient spaced vertically according to the leading and having the width of the text frame, and then just clip those rectangles within the text frame: text fill example_fixed.pdf text fill example_fixed.afpub The text is retained as long as transparency is allowed in export (PDF 1.6 or later), e.g. if you export using PDF (press ready), PDF/X-4, PDF (digital, both qualities). If transparency is not allowed, the text would be converted to curves (and the gradient inside would be rasterized). NathanC
