stormweaver Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Hey all, I am working on a very lightweight publisher project on a new M1 Pro Mac. I am frequently getting a spinning beachball. Deleting and reinstalling the app improved performance but it's still not great. I know this is a problem because I never experienced it on my old 2017 Intel Mac. I am updated to the latest version of Monterey (12.4) and Publisher (1.10.5). Also, I haven't experienced this kind of lag with Photo or Designer. Thanks! Quote
Staff EmT Posted June 21, 2022 Staff Posted June 21, 2022 Hi @stormweaver There is currently an issue with variable brightness on M1 Macbooks, the solution is to go to System Preferences > Displays and disable "Automatically adjust brightness". The issue will be fixed in the future, but the workaround for now is to disable the automatic brightness adjustment within macOS. I hope that helps. Leaving-Adobe Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 I just face the same. Disabled automatic brightness adjustment within macOS, but it doesn't help. Disabled also the second option. Neither helps. Do I have to reboot?! Whats also new under M1+Monterey 12.4. (compared to Intel + Big Sur) is that exporting some letters change ); Quote
Staff EmT Posted June 22, 2022 Staff Posted June 22, 2022 Hi @Leaving-Adobe If you could try rebooting then see if there are any changes. If not could you open the app, then try unchecking Metal/OpenCL Compute Acceleration under Preferences > Performance and seeing if this helps. 9 hours ago, Leaving-Adobe said: Whats also new under M1+Monterey 12.4. My workaround is to select a 'Display Preset' with a brightness locked, like the Photography one. You can also edit the preset and choose a different max nits (I made one with 120nit locked). Not the best solution but for me this works, no more spinningball using Affinity Designer. Now waiting for an update from Affinity Team. Quote
