New user of Affinity Photo that seems to be using hardware that Affinity does not like. Every 20 minutes or so, Affinity will gray out as unresponsive, and I will need to terminate the program and restart it. Turning off hardware acceleration substantially reduces the occurence of this issue, but I have noticed it still present to some degree, and I've also noticed the drop in performance without this setting enabled.

Is there any hope for me to get this sorted? Basic summary of the hardware I'm using:

Intel 12900KF i9 CPU
128GB G.Skill DDR4
Samsung NVME drives
ASUS TUF GAMING 3080Ti

Im sure one of the affinity team will reply to this and get you going during regular working hours later.

It's worth checking your affinity photo software is updated to the latest version.

Hi @justdrewit,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums :)

Sorry to hear you're having trouble! I can recommend a few options for you;

Firstly, please make sure your GPU drivers are fully up to date, directly from the manufactures website(s). This includes both your dGPU from Nvidia, and the iGPU built into your Intel CPU.

Secondly, if you're still seeing similar freezes after updating the drivers, please follow the below FAQ to force Affinity to use this dGPU only, as we've previously seen some devices with 2 GPUs cause issues with Hardware Acceleration -

Please do let me know how you get on here!

Thanks for the suggestions. So, I was mistaken and my CPU actually is a 12900K, not KF, and I do have integrated graphics. However, it is disabled. I still went through the motions and added Affinity and selected High Performance NVIDIA Geforce 3080Ti as the option.

GPU, Windows, Affinity are all up to date.

Still same issues. Just happened in the middle of a meticulous selection, which is rather unfortunate.

Many thanks for letting me know and I'm certainly sorry to hear this hasn't helped.

I'd like to try resetting the Affinity app to default settings, as it sounds like one of your files may cached incorrectly.

You can reset your app back to its default settings by holding down the CTRL key while launching the app. When the Clear User Data window appears, click Select All and then Clear. The app will now open.

Be aware that resetting your app back to its default settings will lose any custom settings such as keyboard shortcuts and brushes etc. To backup such settings before resetting the app, please watch our Affinity Backing up app resources and factory reset video here -
