I opened my file ( a book I wrote ) to add an image and one of my pages had changed. The color of the font went from black to grey and I can't figure out what is wrong or how to fix it. Any ideas?

Perhaps the text frame on that page is at 70% opacity.

Many other ideas, I would need more information, was the text selected? Are you using Global Colours for some or all of the text? Are you using Paragraph and Character styles?

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

The page in question text is like a middle grey when it was black before. When I try to highlight it like to copy and paste or cut, I only get a box frame around the page with blue dots, you can't edit the text or do anything with it. Preceding and subsequent pages are normal for text editing. It's like the text body is an image now. I've been careful to not experiment or fiddle with my file because I've been over my head the whole time, and it's been a while since I created it, so I've forgotten a lot I learned. I need to print some so I'm kind'a desperate and lost...

Without the file itself, or at least screenshots showing the problem (as previously requested) we're unlikely to be able to help. Please give us a screenshot of the complete application window, showing the page you're having problem with, and including the Layers panel with that layer highlighted.

Hi Guys, Well, I still haven't figured it out, but I did manage to get screen shots. I didn't change any texts settings or attributes. But, it seems like every time I open the file it says: A recovery file exists for One Flew Over the Baitshed in color.afpub. Do you want to open the recovery version?   I click no. Then, another window: Some of your linked resource files are missing. Would you like to open them? Everything was fine at first, I exported to Adobe and printed away. Then I decided to add color by replacing pictures, not touching any text, and somehow my one page of text changed. I have no clue...1421843419_Screenshot(1).thumb.png.676c08c4f4091e7edd46e4a4c5f24013.png714621787_Screenshot(2).thumb.png.7b206d7dfd0edb6b20775a4ff4902667.png714621787_Screenshot(2).thumb.png.7b206d7dfd0edb6b20775a4ff4902667.png

Assuming it's page 52 that has the problem, can you save a copy of the document with just pages 51, 52 & 53 in it and upload that to the forum

It's going to be the quickest way to let you know what is wrong

Check the opacity for the text layer in the Layers panel. I will wager it is at something like 70%.

If the story runs through linked text frames then deleting pages 1-50 would alter the content of the wanted pages 51-53, starting with the story from the initial page 1. Unfortunately the same happens if you copy selected text frames to place them in a new document.

To avoid this re-flow of text you alternatively can create a new, empty document + load the desired pages from the existing .afpub via menu "Document" > "Add Pages from File…" + its following dialog box for page selection.
