mask doesn't work with brush

If I want to paint on the mask the brush tool does not work. This problem arose suddenly. in the beginning the mask worked perfectly.

The issue is most likely caused by your brush settings. Maybe this thread helps?

Please select the Paint Brush Tool and make sure that Protect Alpha is unchecked on the Context Toolbar -

If the brush still isn't working, can you please provide a screenshot showing the Affinity app with the Brush Tool selected and your layers panel visible?

Thank you for the hint. I found the problem. I had to uncheck "Protect transparency" (Transparenz schützen) in the top bar.
