Hello there, I'm super new to the concept of getting my digital art ready for print. I've been told to try Affinity Designer for "Soft Proofing" but I have no idea how to turn that on, nor do I really understand exactly what that does.. but I hope to learn once I actually learn how to enable that feature.

Another thing I've been told to do is; Export as a PDF/X-1a:2001 format.

{I just found the PDF/X-3:2003 & one called PDF(Print)}

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

There is an old Affinity Photo (Desktop) tutorial about Soft Proofing, available from the Legacy Photo Tutorials page.

The concepts taught in that tutorial should also apply to the iPad version of the applications, I think, though the screen layout will of course be quite different.

The Affinity applications do not support that old format. The :2003 that you found is its replacement, but some print shops seem stuck on the older format.

Okay, I'll check this out. Brains melting trying to figure this out

I wish there was a iPad video tutorial, I read through AD's user guide on Soft Proof Adjustments & tried figuring it out with the text guide... can't get past step 1 :/

It says it's in adjustment studio but it's not

I wonder which profile I should use for preparing for a print run

The one matching the inks and paper it will be printed on. If you're having them professionally printed the print shop should be able to tell you.
